Vista.

People always complain about dodgy updates etc.

I've had mine from nearish the start, never had a problem.

Plenty of friends have got them recently, also with no problems.

I think that (the part of your post I quoted lol) is the best description of Vista I have ever seen. Most of the "protections" are a big PITA but overall I like Vista better.

The sad truth is that the number of folks that custom build is a small percentage of computer users. Make it only slightly larger if you add folks that upgrade the few components they are able to upgrade on their factory built computer and it is still a small percentage. (probably single digit though I have no research to back that up). Vista works virtually flawlessly with the factory built computers like Dell ect. that self upgrade and such.

Id agree with that, theres no way that a tenth of people build their own.

Especially seeing as all Government offices (Local, County Councils etc.) Buy in from Dell, your average person goes to currys or PC World.

TBH, there not a lot better anymore.

But beat the box store crap any day. PC World really drives me nuts with their Tech Guys who think they know everything and really know absolutely nothing, yet are prepared to lie out of their back teeth.

Mate of mine went in wandering whether it was possible to split the ethernet cable that came into his room from the router in the house into to so as he could plug in his PC and Xbox at the same time.

Stupid tech woman in their says its not possible. BS. Anyone knows you could just chain a simple 10/100 swictch on to the cable and get as many ports as you needed.

Needless to say, I sorted my mate out with a switch and wish I could have told that tech woman.
