Hi!

Teleplan who PC World deal with is getting a courier to pick my laptop up tomorrow morning.

Before my laptop would start up but now it is having a problem starting up and if it does it just cuts off.

The recent stuff is word docs and photos just stuff from the last couple of months at the most. I bought an external hard drive last year and I backed up pretty much of the stuff but got a feeling there might be things on there from the last couple of months of which I didn't back up? Is it possible to get this caddy from PC World and are they easy to fix as I am not tech savvy!!

Many thanks for your help.

Sarah

eerm im not sure about pc world but you can get it from maplins, secondly it isnt that complicated its just a matter of unscrewing 5 or so screws on the bottom of the laptop, taking off an access panel and removing the harddirve, it then just slots into the caddy

I think if Teleplan are taking the laptop away tomorrow you're down to the wire on this, there's practically no time left at all. You'll need the use of someone's desktop to look through the disk even if you get it into a caddy in time.

What puzzles me is that "my neighbour who is a computer technician so he took it back to his as he has the stuff for it but no good, he isn't able to get the data off, he even took the hard drive out and did it that way but nothing". I strongly suggest you ask him why and whether a caddy would improve matters. If he knows what he's doing (and you seem to suggest that he does) then I'm not sure what you're hoping to achieve at this point.

Talking just about the files you don't have backed up at the moment,

1. Do you still have the camera the photos were on? Have you deleted them from the camera's memory card?

2. Do you have paper copies of the Word documents?
