Does anyone have a great useful and readable tutorial thats easy to use on how to create a proxy on a mac and/or windows?

Also, exactly what are all the features that a proxy can do, besides what I already know.
Can you make yourself anonymous via proxy?

Creating a proxy would only mean people would be able to use YOU to anonymize their traffic, not the other way around.

Try finding a HTTP proxy on www.xroxy.com.

Run Privoxy, then right click the onion in your quick launch area (to the left of the time) and hit Enable (I think that's it), then wait a few seconds for it to acquire a route.

You can get TorButton for Firefox (it's an addon) to toggle Vidalia on and off. Otherwise it won't work (you have to input the settings manually).

ooo ok. i thought so. well my friend told me that i have to download some servers or something in order for it to fully work. also ive heard this thing on "4chan" where a guy had seven proxies. what does he mean, and is it possible. what does it do and how does it effect you?

You don't have to set up any server, just download Vidalia. Your friend was probably thinking you wanted to SET UP a proxy yourself which wouldn't give you any anonymity (cause..it's your computer!).

"Seven proxies" is just a meme on 4chan about people trying to track you down through your IP being thwarted by being behind an insane number of proxies. Tor does technically put you through quite a few different "nodes".
