i have a software program that i use which is connected to a cutter machine anyway everytime i open windows task manager its always running how can i stop it running

It's probably included in start up.

Try this ... Click Start & Run, type in msconfig and hit Enter Click on the Start Up tab, find the program in the list and untick it. Click "Apply" and "OK" Then reboot the PC, you may get a nag screen about Selective Start Up, just tick the box not to show again If all goes well, the program wont start in future, unless you yourself open it

You may also be able to chose not to have the program run on startup from inside the program.
But Phil's method would work just as well.
