Not sure if this is the right place to be posting this, sorry if it isnt :)

I was trying to install my monitor drivers last night but every attempt prompted a message saying the computer was unable to open the file type. I looked online to see what the file type was...ICM - Image Colouring Monitor or something to that effect...

Has anyone had any experience with this file type? What can I use to open the file? Its kinda important as I am prompted to install the drivers every time the comp is turned on...

Thanks
Doug

That sounds like a colour profile not a driver!

Look for Color Management in Control Panel, Display, Settings, Advanced and use the ICM file there.

Thanks for the reply Mike. I get the message when trying to install the drivers from the disk...Though it is a Dell monitor and its about 4 years old...over heard my flat mates saying they might get me a monitor for my 21st in 2 weeks so could be a solution to the problem!!

Though I still wouldnt mind fixing the problem cause I would love to have dual monitors! So you think I would be able to open the file from CP?

Almost certainly. Find Color Management as I said and there will be a New... button to load your profile.

Great thanks for that Mike, I'll try that out as soon as I have finished my next shift.

OK so when I got home I tried your suggestion. When I got to colour management there was no option for New... only add a file. So I added it but still no joys.

The thing is, the monitor runs fine so far without the driver. Im about to get a second monitor which will be my primary monitor - used for gaming etc. The Dell monitor will be relegated to dealing with things like internet, music and other run-of-the-mill basic jobs. Do you think it will be ok to continue to use the monitor without drivers?

Also, I had a look online and saw that Photoshop can open ICM files, maybe I should get a copy of this?

Thanks for your time

Another thing is, when I turn the PC on a message pops up asking for the installation of drivers for the monitor. Is there any way I can disable this message?
