I have an idea about setting an IRC that is designed for just text message.
the fundamentals are that a person will get a number like ICQ but this number is an actual phone number. I know that Skype has something like this but it only allows texting from your cellphone number. I want to make a IRC client strictly for this purpose. I haven't figured out if I want to give every member a phone number or go the dynamic rout.

What would I need to do to get this accomplished? Is it a good Idea?
Any ideas will help.

I thought of that but thought that like faxing and snail mail people would still use it.
