So, my PC turns on but the keyboard and mouse will not work. I've tried rebooting but I can't press any keys during start up so I can;t even use safe mode. Is there anything I can do???

When I try to reboot it has the same problem. It's not the mouse or the keyboard, I've plugged both into another computer and they work just fine. The mouse and keyboard both plug in through a USB port. I also recently tried to take out the battery from the motherboard and then put it back in as suggested in another forum but that made it worse. At least before the computer would actually start up I just wasn't able to do anything because the mouse or keyboard wouldn't work. Now it doesn't even start up because it wants me to press F1 which I can't do because the keyboard is completely dysfunctional.

Are you sure? I don't think there's a motherboard on the market without PS/2 plugs. It's one of those standards that refuses to go away.

you could also to check and see if the usb ports aren't damaged or if something is jammed in the usb port stopping it from working, try to clean away dust too
