Hey, first i'd like to say that i don't know if this is the right forum but i hope it is anyway to my point. I own one of these babies http://h71036.www7.hp.com/hho/cache/...0-225-121.html

just with slightly different specs, what the problem is as you all know of the site http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest
when i am on my laptop i go and choose World in Conflict and it says that my computer is far above recommended and should run this game perfectly fast on high setting although when i got this game it can't even handle it perfectly on low I really don't understand what's up i made sure that i have DirectX 10 and such but that didn't seem to be the issue.

Here are the specs :
cpu speed : 2.5ghz
system ram : 3gb
OS : vista 32 bit
Video Card : Nbidia GeForce 8400 GS

Anything more needed post a reply, thanks for any help.

What background programs are running? (anti-virus etc)

EDIT: Also, do you have all the latest drivers for your hardware?

McAfee anti virus and the windows defender that's the only ones that i know off and i haven't installed anything much to the laptop it self it's pretty new so it shouldn't have anything more. and yes i have all the latest drivers fro my hardware or atleast that i know off it asks me to update quite often actually.

Are you sure they aren't just windows updates? as the slow game speeds could be a lack of graphics card drivers if you don't have them installed.

You gotta be careful with retail laptops, as they come with a TON of junkware installed on them that will be running in the background. HP has at least 3 processes that run when you aren't even using them (I know, I've got an HP) you should uninstall them if you think you may never use them, and then clean up the registry with CCleaner.

If possible I'd also try to go with a different anti virus, maybe Kaspersky, Webroot or AVG. McAfee and Norton both are RAM hogs and eat up more of your system than needed.

The only other thing I guess could be the problem is do you have enough dedicated graphics memory? I don't know if http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest takes that into account but if you have anything less than 256MB forget about any of the higher settings.

I have 1.4GB video ram i seem to have a problem downloading graphic driver though i go to the nvidia homepage and they say that hp wants you to download from their homepage so i go to their homepage and search for the notebooks that have 8400M GS and i only find desktop pcs with it then i try to search my pc number which is HP Pavillion dv2700 like the one i linked above just abit better and i seem to find computers with that number but those aren't my computers the closest one i found was Dv2700 CTO i though that was mine first but then i checked that the graphics card wasn't the correct one. any help ?

Edit : I can download GeForce 178 Driver update although im not sure if i should it does however support my graphics card any opinions?

Right. They are the wrong drivers for your card.

Go onto the Nvidia site and search for the Nvidia GeForce 8400 GS drivers. These are what you are after.

Also make sure there are no updates from microsoft being installed in the background. I shall post a link if I get chance to look for the drivers.

That's the point, there is no drivers for 8400 GS its only one driver for everything now or so it seems, the 178 says that it supports all of the graphics cards but it doesn't seem to work for me.

Edit : Also maybe i should mention that the 178 driver update worked for my desktop pc which has 7600 GS
