Hi - I'm new here and don't really know much about computers except I've owned 3 in the last 18 years - so I have some experience.
I recently purchased Windows Office Home and Student 2007 software. I loaded it and I'm using it fine on one computer. I didn't think I needed that awkward plastic box the software came in so I threw it out a few days later - making sure I kept all the contents of course before doing so. Today I decided to load it into another computer (you get 3 loads/package) and when it asked for the product key guess where it was - you got it - on the plastic box I threw out last month! Is there any way of recovering the product ket? I tried going on-line to Microsoft - forget that - it's a maze trying to get through there. I tried telephoning - it's after hours (not open on weekends). They should have an automatic product key system in place - so after you register you can send an email and they send you the key - just like when you forget your password on a forum. I just went back and bought it again a few hours ago at Costco $169 + tax - a lesson learned - write the darn thing down on the cd (be careful when doing that) - like I did on my old ms word software disc. Thoughts? |

License keys are sold per copy. There are copywrite laws involved.
You were right, contact MS and sort it out with them. |

So - I went and bought the product again - it's easier to pay the $200 sometimes than go through all the trouble trying to contact people and waiting around. I have to be more careful in the future and not throw anything out when it comes to software. I guess I'm just pissed at myself for being so careless and throwing the key away. And by the way, I'm all for the copywrite laws. They wouldn't have to be so strict with the product key(s) if there were no "pirating" in the first place. those darn piarates! Thanks for your reply. |
