Yesterday i took couple of pics of my children and put memory card into laptop as usual, but i am not get the usual window options of how i would like to view the pics or option to import. I have tried using the other memory card but the problem still exists. What could have possibly happened?

Default memory card

Go to My Computer (assuming XP) right click the drive letter that refers to your memory stick and select Properties and click the Autoplay tab .... in the drop down window, set it to Pictures and click the button "Select action to perform" and them click the "Restore Defaults" button.

Hopefully you will be back in business.

If you are running Vista the options are iun the same location under the Customise tab.

I must be the most annoying person here,i followed the instructions and the problem was solved......for 5 minutes and its as before again, however this time going through my computer click on drive letter etc....hasnt worked. So sorry don't know whats happened. Could do with some help again.Thanks.

BTW in vista the window that opens after clicking properties doesnt have "select action to perform" option. Also where it says choose file in this window all my pics are there am i supposed to choose a file from in there?

OK try this .... Click Start and in the search box at the bottom, type ....
services.msc
scroll down toShell Hardware Detection, and check that the Service Status is running, and Startup Type is set to Automatic.
If not, start the service and change the Startup Type setting by right clicking the entry and selecting Properties.

ok i have looked in search and in shell hardware status in the list its started and start up type is automatic, however when i click properties there are 4 option:
start, stop, pause and resume. The stop option is selected already there but when i click on start it does not highlight that option.hope that makes sense to you in the list, status is on start but in properties its at stopand unable to change it to start.
