Default Missing driver

Hi ,I am new to this forum, and also not that brilliant with computers, especially when things go wrong with them.

Hopefullly I am in the correct forum her for my question.

My daughter has a laptop,it was running very very slow.I tried defragmenting and cleaning up the dics, also ran a virus scan. The scan and defragment would only go so far and then the cxomputer would freeze. After much attempts,we decided to just crash it and start from scratch. This went well until we tried to connect to our BT home hub,so that we could download the security again. The guy from home hub told us that a driver was missing from the laptop.

I am confused, and dont know if this can be fixed or not.if so is it easy enough to do?

I also have a crashed main computer but will post that on appropriate thread, this was done by youngest daughter, and is the 5th time she has done it,all other times we have managed to get it going again, but this time to no avail.

Use the driver CD that came with the laptop, otherwise, if you know the brand and model of your laptop then go to the manufacturers website and they will supply you with up to date drivers.

Hi,thanks for that, the laptop now is apparently not even showing windows anymore.
I Am not sure if itis the comps or the hub now,as my laptop is playing up this morning. It would not let me sign into bt homepage,I had to come on through explorer to get online, and that was only after I plugged it straight into the hub.
A thing came up on my screen once on.It said "line b problem, parising xml"null" is null or not an object".I have no idea what this is or means.

if the laptop first slowed and then crashed and is now not booting into windows it could be your hard drive how old is it? and the line "line b problem, parising xml"null" is null or not an object". is a problem with bt/yahoo java by all accounts and its being looked into by yahoo

Hi,thankyou. The main comp is about 3 years old ,but my daughters laptop is only 2 months old.The main comp is just a blue screen,my daughters laptop just wont load windows,I think my husband said it goes as far as msdos??but I will check that with him

I spoke to bt just now and have managed to get my connection back rather than going on the net through explorer.I just had to re boot it,but this is the second time since yesterday,I keep losing the connection.Hopefully it wont happen again.

As philthomas pointed out you should have got a recovery/rescue disk or even a installation disk, otherwise as its only 2 mths old it should be under warrenty still, ( if bought brand new ) so take it back to the shop
