helloo i have all my music on my harddrive and i want to copy and paste all the albums names into notepad so i can have a list of all my albums.. i could easily do this in xp by selecting all folders and write clicking and copy and past into notepad.. but for the first time i have discoverd something i cant do in VISTA that i could do in xp.. any ideas how i coudl do this simple task ? i dont fancy typing them all out in notepad

have you tried dragging and dropping the folders into Notepad?
just a guess but it might work

Just done the same with my music files, i used http://www.karenware.com/powertools/ptdirprn.asp and worked a treat. Just make sure you un click the boxes you dont need info about, either save as txt file or do a direct print.

There's a nice simple utilty called Cathy, written by a guy called Robert Vašíček.

You can download a copy free on his website here ..... runs ok on Vista and XP. It's a self contained .exe file, so doesn't need installing. The program is quite useful, you can copy paste to Word or Excel in different formats and you can search your catalog and create playlsts as well. My System: Home Build
