What is the Model no. ? .... normally Dell has a Recovery Partition that can be accessed via a set key sequence at boot.

to get your copy of vista repair disk (all versions) click here> http://neosmart.net/blog/2008/window...disc-download/

you can burn it with magic iso (free to download from here http://www.magiciso.com/
burn at lowest speed to insure a successfully burn.

then boot to the cd.click repair.. this has fixed my vista boot up problems so many times. hope this helps
you may need to enter bios to select cd rom drive as first boot device and harddrive as second boot device

pete21's link to the Vista Repair Disk will work ..... if you are not familiar with torrents here is a normal download link for the iso file.
It seems as though Microsoft included the option for Vista to produce the Repair Disk in the SP1 beta, but for some weird reason, they stripped it out of the final version release. Neosmart made it into a bootable CD, which is quite handy, but remember it is not an official disk.

Normally Dell machines have their own Recovery partition, which can be accessed by pressing CTRL + F11 at boot up ..... the only problem with this is .... the options are limited and although you can restore back to Factory settings .... you lose all your personal data and files.

Post back if you need more help.

personally i rather use a torrent as most of the time its quicker to download than a website server
but lizibit has the option to choose witch one to use now.
