I have Aim 6.8.12.4 and have been using AIM for 8 years. Each time there is an upgrade which has chat logging, I check it and go on my merry way. Yesterday I checked my logs and found out that it had deleted the last month's worth of chats. How can I recover the missing chat log? There was a particular word used in the chat log which will only show up there, if there is a program that can search my computer that way.

Also was the chat log overwritten or deleted by AIM? Or was it via Windows? I'm kinda scared it is a Windows problem. I've been trying all sorts of programs to find the file but I can't. I need to find out fast how to recover the chat log.

I think if its overwritten it's impossible to retrieve, if you delete something, even if you clear recycle bin, you havn't truly deleted it until you 100% fill your hard drive, and delete it all, then clear the recycle bin, then there is no trace (what you may do say, if you were selling your computer, and worried about people retrieving your information, it saves forking out ridiculous sums of money for software to do it.)
