Is the disc scratched at all?

Just get them to send you another one.

hi,no the disc is brandnew.my friend got the laptop from currys for free and got sent the disc through the post by orange.currys say the problem is oranges.shes aked for another disc to be sent.the main problem is that for this laptop/broadband deal orange charge 50 pence a minute for their technical support over the phone and no email service for any problems.this can make for a very expensive phone call.

Try the disc in another machine, if it works the original PC is faulty, if it doesn't get a new CD.
