Does any of you lovely peeps know of any free software to "watermark" my photo's. I wouldn't usually bother but some of my images have been stolen and passed off as someone else's on other forums!
AND some thieving *$&^% has nicked my images off of my eBay listings and is using them on theirs! :x
Is there any software already on my computer that I could use to put some text onto my photo's? My OS is WXP Pro. I am not very good with software other than the bog standard excel, word etc......
I look forward to some help!!

Your better off adding

copyright, name , year

Clearly on all your images and if you can add the text with a transparent background so your image shows through making it hard to edit it out or add the text right in the middle of the image so everyone can see those belong to you for your use only they can't play dumb then and others can see they are breaking copyright law. Check out how I do it on my images at www.cgeffect.com. Water marks are only any good after you start a legal challenge.

It might also help to disable the right click on photos. They might not want to deal with the hassle of overcoming that and skip on to someone else's photos. Also some people put their Web address somewhere on the photo where it really can't be cropped out. It takes away from the photo some, but at least you won't have to worry about someone swiping it and taking credit.

Hi Lisa,

try the pdf995 products, I know you can add watermark in pdf, but they also have image edditing free products that might work.

Usually whne someone takes your pictures, the first step is simply to contact that person, explain that they are copyrighted and and ask her/him to remove the picture. In 99.99% of the cases they will do it.

I would recommend adding text saying something like "Copyright - [Name Goes Here] 2007, if you are looking at this image any where else than [Site Goes Here], please email [Email Goes Here]"

This was people would be frightened to publish the image and they may just give up!
