Hello all.

Ever since I installed Windows Live messenger, my laptop has had many problems,
When I can get on to the internet, my sound does not work, it says I have no audio device. Then, after a reboot, my sound works fine but I can not get on the internet.

I have tried everything I know, i have removed the drivers, reinstalled them, checked firewall settings, uninstalled windows live, done a system restore, you name it ive done it, I just can not have both sound and internet.

Very close to throwing the laptop on the floor. Can anyone give any advice?

Thanks in advance.

what operating system you using?...xp?
have you looked in device manager for problems?
is it possible to re install windows if it comes to that?
i suspect you might of downloaded messenger from a dodgy website meaning some type of virus has been added to windows live (this happened to me)

Hello Pete21 and thanks for the reply.

The Laptop has now completely died. I cant re install windows on it, I have used recovery programs, I have tried to recover with Power suite, Knoppix etc. Nothing.

Thanks for trying to help but I think it needs a trip to the computer shop (or the DUMP)

Kind regards

Andrew

When you say the laptop completely died, what do you mean? is it no longer getting power? is it not booting?

Hi Jarvis

When I turn it on now, it says no operating system installed.

I have tried to re install windows XP, but after loading it up, it asks me to repair, install etc. When I press any of the options it tells me the computer does not have a recognised Hard disk drive.

It just will not do anything!!!

It is a fujitsu seimans Amilo Pi 1505 by the way.

Any advice?

Thanks
