I use Windows XP,having installed SP3, I had numerous problems. I removed SP3 anf found that Photoshop CS4 doesn't work.
I wanted to uninstall at add/remove programmes, but could not find it, so I deleted the Program File, but now I cannot re-install it. I originally downloaded it as a trial version and has saved it as an ISO file on a CD, before I bought the serial. I extract the file to the desktop, then run setup ![]() and then it gets stuck at this point ![]() Any ideas/help? |

Have you tried Adobe CS4 Clean Script? Although you deleted the program files, you didn't delete the registy entries. They are still hanging around in your computer preventing you from reloading. Run the clean script linked above and then try to re-install.
If you could, please let me know if this worked for you. |

With regards to SP3- Some of my programmes struggled to work, I have forgotten all the reasons, but I had lots of problems.PS CS4 was working very well before installing SP3.
This is what I have done so far (looking everywhere on the internet): I reset the laptop to an earlier date, but the Add/Remove section did not show PS. I then ran jv16 powertools, was very meticulous with what I deleted, but had problems starting up- had to restore again. I downloaded CS4 from the Adobe site (800+ MB), tried, but got stuck at the same point. "Unable to install Adobe Bridge and Adobe Photoshop CS4" (The downloaded file looks the same as my ISO file) Then I found the CS2 guide: Quote:
I then tried CS4 Clean Script again, but I do not have admin privileges on this machine, as it is a company laptop. Adobe advises: Quote:
I then tried WinCS3Cleanup. I had to download "Windows Uninstaller" beforehand and ran this script. It ran and deleted, but no success. It looks as if there is 2 options- get that exe.manifest programme to use or clean the laptop. This in itself has its problems- this is a company laptop and Im not suppose to have my own programmes on it and they have installed a Remote Desktop Connection installed. I'm worried that I lose this as well as XP. Any help, or should I just accept that Adobe doesn't want us to use their programmes? |

If you had numerous problems after installing SP3, your likely problem is a corrupted XP installation and not Adobe software.
