Hi everyone..I have an application that I have installed that wont run ..It keeps telling me that I am very low on memory..I have 2 Gig of ram..Dual core processor..512 meg nividia graphics plus heaps of page file and the app isnt very large..Can anyone give me some clue as to the problem please? All the gear is in good condition ( new ) and can run all my other apps faultlessly..I borrowed a friends copy to try it but get the same result..

What application is it?

Sometimes really, really old apps were coded to recognize small amounts of memory (in the KB/MB range) and GB will throw them off.

I can back that up carbon, I recently installed heroes of might and magic 3 which is very old, I can't remember exactly how old but it is coded for low amount of RAM, during the instalation it said this:

Maybe you could try running the program in compatability mode, I don't know if this would work, but it may be worth a try.

EDIT: Hearos of might and magic 3 was released dec 1999, i just found it.

Thanks everyone for your replies..I am using XP home , with Asus P5K SE mobo, 320 gig HD, 2x1 Gig Ram, E4500 dual core cpu.Asus Nvidia 8600GT 512 graphics...The message I get says 'Memory too low to proceed' after which the app ( Maxsea Navigator, a navigational program, as I have a 45 ft boat) shuts down..All installation has been done correctly, with the program loading as it should..It just stops because of this 'low memory' thing..On any other app, the computer flies and runs cool,( I have adequate cooling)..I also run ' Captain voyager', another nav program that runs perfectly..I also run flight sim x and 2004 which use significant memory and they run perfectly..The problem is specific to this one app..

Check your virtual memory settings in Contol Panel/System/Advanced/Performance/Settings/Advanced ....... the total paging file size should be set, by default to 1.5 x Ram, so in your case 3gb.
If the figure is showing less or has become corrupted, reset it to 2 or 3 gb and see if this helps.

Have you tried running it in compatibility mode?

Edit: Don't worry, I just saw you are in XP.
