| Hello, well since SecuROM got put onto The Sims 2 people have been going mental saying it's stopped their disk drives from working and a whole load of different things. Now, the new version apparently has a ring0 hole in it? I don't know what this is but people claim 'the new version uses a ring0 driver under the OS. That means. if hacker makes a RAT that uses that driver for control, the hacker would be undetectible and UNSTOPPABLE!'. My question is what exactly would this ring0 thing do? I have had no problems with SecuRom (though why they put it on i don't know, the games are still cracked within days) it seems to have just caused problems with new pre-built systems but i would like to know why people are so hysterical about the whole thing. Thanks :) |

| As far as I know SecuROM runs at ring3 and not ring0, but things may have changed.

I google a bit and this is the best I could find: http://www.rpgwatch.com/forums/archi...hp/t-2538.html Now, it is important when you read this to be aware of each and every single if. It explains pretty much everything you need to know. Yes, it is written with BioShock in mind, but both use some sort of SecuROM. My System: Toshiba Satellite A200-28P
