Default Shoot the Messenger

On a new operation system install or re-install do you ever get tired of those annoying little pop ups from the Windows Messenger Service. To get shut go to Shoot the Messenger , it's a tiny little 22k file which is about as big as a 5p piece....

Default Shoot the Messenger

I haven't seen those messages, but they would annoy me too.

I'd like to stop messenger from running at startup, but I haven't gotten around to that yet. I assume that's done from the control panel of XP?

This is not a Game evilkosmoz but a piece of software to stop Windows Messenger Service running.

Please re-post in the correct forum, ie games.

Welcome to TCF by the way.

Wolf, is the messenger service anything to do with Microsoft then, or just a loophole exploited by clever spammers?

Yes mate it has, MS thought it would be snappy but it turned out to be a security headache and has been dropped from Vista.
Shoot the Messenger is just a small bit of software that simple does what you can do for your self by reading this.

Thanks for the information and link, Wolfeymole.

I've bookmarked it and I plan to remove messenger from my Windows startup later.

I don't have this but I can definently see how this would be annoying. It would almost be as annoying as the pop ups there warning you about.
