Default software cd

I have had my laptop for a few months now its a Sony vaio VGN-N38E. It did't come with any software i believe i have to do it myself make the cds myself? How do i go about it myself. I nhave been putting this off cos i havnet a clue what to do.
As usual all help is welcome.

There should be something in your start menu to make the CDs I guess.

There is something that says "backup and restore centre" would that be it?

Probably worth a look, sometimes there is no need to make the CDs as the software is stored on a separate drive/partition.

Yes that will be it, HP have the same system, you need to create the back up disc in case you get an HDD (hard drive disc) failure so you are therefore unable to use the recovery partition, the disc can be used to restore your Laptop to factory settings once a new HDD is installed.

On an HP it takes 7 CDr's or 1 DVD+R

I have a pack of DVD+Rs so it can be put on to there i need to do it quick cos if anything went wrong i wouldn't know what to do. Will look in to it today and get back to you all if stuck.Thanks.

In the start menu there is i clicked on Back up and restore center then i get two more options:
Back up restore centre
Protect your files by backing them

Restore files
Restore files and folders from a back up

Which one do i select?
