My laptop's started to have some weird problems... I'm slightly worried because the same thing happened on my last computer and the problems increased to the point that the computer became unusable. These might just be trivial problems though...

1) The laptop is never silent when it's on; I can always hear the CPU. It's the noise the laptop makes when it's running intensive programs (like virus scans), except it occurs when I have no programs running.

2) For some reason, occasionally the mouse/cursor stops working properly. If I try to highlight some text or move the cursor to the middle of a sentence in Word or something, it only highlights random sections of the text. Also, I have the computer set on international keyboard, and that turns off, and if I'm on the Internet, the rolling wheel thing acts as a back or forward button (as in it randomly makes the internet page go back to the homepage or pages I visited earlier).

Do these sound like normal errors that most computers have?

Thanks for reading

Well, if i were you, i would go get Norton or something and scan your computer. This sounds like a virus because the problems you are having are absolutely NOT normal.

And also, what kind of sites/programs were you using when the problems started? if you were trying to run something like Corel Video Studio Pro on a P4 computer, then you probably totaled your fan.

The noise is most definitely caused by the fan on the CPU or the PSU. Try taking a compressed air can to those parts as they might have major dust buildup.

Your mouse: check your drivers. If you're using a high-end mouse, then your drivers might not be there.

But i will stick to my first suggestion: get a really good antivirus (Norton, AVG, Avast, etc.) and scan your computer. I know a person who's computer had those kind of problems just before melting half of its insides because a virus screwed up the cooling system.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks... I have a good antivirus program though, and it found nothing. Also, I forgot- another random problem is that sometimes it continuously opens the same IE window, and only stops when I end the process with task manager.
I haven't tried the compressed air thing yet, thanks for the tip... the noise is so annoying

Does the IE window go to a certain page or does it just stay blank? and is it multiple windows or just one?
This is very abnormal and i still believe you have some form of malware on your computer. It's kind of getting out of my zone here but i'm going to refer you to one of the moderators. He knows a ****load more than me about these kind of problems. Do the steps on this page: http://www.computer-juice.com/forums...-posting-7476/, then post your results on the Virus and Malware section of the site.
The moderator's name is Evilfantasy.
