Default Stumped on if i have to leave unallocation space

i have a 320gb sata drive....i have xp installed and i was going to install vista....so i partitioned my hard drive well come to find out i dont want vista so i deleted the partition now do i leave any unallocated space before or after i "restore" the drive....like 10.mb ...
