Why can't they just make it auto update??? They push updates out so often.

I think this update was due to the 64-bit plug in.

The transition to a 64-bit world continues. Sun Releases 64-bit Java Plug-In

Maybe now we can get back to one, maybe two updates a year like it used to be.

Forgive me for being a computer numpty but is this update important. I have this java thingy, so i should update it, yes ?

Yes it's important. New versions include security patches.

After installing it use JavaRa to completely remove all older versions.

Download JavaRa
  • Unzip the file and open the JavaRa.exe
  • Click Remove Older Versions
  • JavaRa will search for and remove any outdated version of Java and remove any that are found.
  • Click Additional Tasks
  • Place a check next to Remove Useless JRE Files and click Go
  • Exit JavaRa
  • Delete the JavaRa files from the Desktop

Thanks for the update on the update lol. BTW I thought they released a new JavaRa each time there was a Java update..........

Haven't seen talk of a new one yet. Since the new Java builds are removing the prior version they might not need to update it too many more times.
