when ever i turn on the laptop once in windows (Vista) it keeps bringing up something to do with a tray.app or something which keeps trying to load but cannot find what it need but also is hard to cancel or stop, i'm not sure if this is spyware or a virus, or maybe something important that i have not come across before....

download quick start up here
it's a free program.
With it you can manage what loads when windows starts. If you see anything you dont want to start with windwos simply uncheck it.

If you don't want to download that, just press the "windows keys" and "R" and it will bring up a run box, type "msconfig" in there. Go to the startup tab and work from there.

As evilfantasy suggests HP Printer - if you have one, but not so much the Printer as its software "this malfunction will also sometimes ask for a Disk, simple remedy is to uninstall the software (track down any left keys in the Registry "if you are comfortable with editing the Registry" ) and reinstall the software with any AV, Malware apps etc off

that sounds exactly what it is. it does ask for a disk when it says it's unable to find required files, and it's a pain in the ass to close and often have to do so in task manager.

will try deleting the printer software and reinstalling. cheers
