Default Trouble Downloading

hi
i recently bought a laptop off a friend. everything is fine but ive had trouble down loading msn messenger and windows vista service pack 2. the download window opens and i click run. the window opens but never finishes and i get a message saying cant download from site...... reseting server. ive tried clearing my old files and cookies and disabling my norton before downloading. ive also contacted windows help but they say try this try that and nothing works. hope some one can help. i have a basic knowledge of computers so keep it nice and simple please

Are you able to download files from other websites ok ?

hi
yes ive loaded files from other sites no problem. windows help have told me to uninstall all windows live products and download any updates. but yet again this wont get passed 79%.some one suggested doing a system restore to take my computer back when it was working correctly but not sure how to or if this works. thanks

Try going here and download Windows Live Messenger 8.5 from the link on the left, under "Messenger MSIs"

This should download the whole program to your PC. Then install it from your PC.

Often running live installations can be a problem, so see if this solves it.

thanks. when i click on that it opens another window and says service unavailable.tried a few times. same thing

Hmmmm. .... it was working ok yesterday, maybe the server is down.

tried the link you gave and it says on the website that windows have removed this download.i tried the first link you gave and clicked save. again the download didnt go past 5%.
