I have a friend who handicaps sports - he has spreadsheets back to 1998 - all on floppies - created with Quattro Pro. He just bought a Vista laptop, and I cannot figure how to transfer the files so Vista can open them. Quattro will not load, and all he has available now (budget) is Corel 8. Any inexpensive solutions/suggestions? Thanks in advance.........

What is the exact file extension?
OpenOffice may be able to open them.

The extension in QPRO is WQ1 (dos, I think). Can be put into Windows as QPW. Corel has QPW 8.0, but I cannot yet make it open his (antique) spreadsheets. Will try Open Office- had not thought of it........ thanks

Try this to convert it to a more modern format, then open with OpenOffice. :)

If all else fails ....... Long winded I know, but ..... if he still has the old W98 PC, with Quattro Pro installed, I believe there was an option to "save in Excel forma"t, so he could resave the important ones, as and when he needs them.

Also, I believe M$ Excel 2000 has an add in, but I'm not sure whether this would work on Excel 2003 or 2007. If you can get them into Excel format,Open Office will read them also. HTH My System: Home Build
