I have a Toshiba notebook and tonight i went to a web site and tried to send a picture file to my desk top.
Instead of a file I ended up with a partial picture in the right hand corner. I have tried to delete it change my desk top but nothing seems to get rid of it. I do notice it seems to be on top of the desktop color and if i click on an icon on the tool bar it comes up ontop of the picture . Sure would appriciate some help to delete this partial picture. Thanks in advance Sparky |

Screen shot maybe helpful?
Have you tried going back to that site and saving the image, then trying to set your desktop like that? |

Hi Thanks for the reply
The answere to your question is no I was trying to save it as a file on the desktop so I could have it handy to pick up and attach it to emails. I went to https://www.homeandhobbysolutions.co...20comments.htm Picked a picture 1/2 way down ,selected it and picture went blue as usuall. I then right clicked and thought I was saving it to desktop (as a file or attachment ) But as you see in the picture it came through as a partial picture in the bottom right corner. Sparky |

Try this please.
Go to Start > Control Panel > Display > Desktop > Customize Desktop... > and select the Web tab Make sure Lock desktop items is unchecked. Select everything you find in there (except for 'My current home page') and press the delete button on the right. Click OK below > apply in previous window. |

I thought I would check with Toshiba after I wrote. As this is a new note book (1 moth old I did not have anything on it to loose . They help me set up and run a recovery of factory default software . According to the tec fellow this will bring everything back to day one . It is running now and takes about an Hour. I will let you know iether way if it works or not. I will try your suggestion if it does not . Nek |

Hello
Well after two days of head aches and stress I finally have my Toshiba NB100 note book running .The partial picture is gone and unfortunately so is my program that opens when you first turn the note book on. I do not know the name of this but it pops up from the tool bar and is like a bunch of discs. If you pick the right disc it opens on the screen like a radar and you can see the wireless units in your close proximity and it beeps like a radar screen . If you know of this and how to get it up and running please advise. It was one of the features I bought this note book for. Upon calling Toshiba support they advised me to let them take over my computer and reload the hard disc. I allowed this to happen. Now just to go back a bit regarding reloading DO NOT EVER DO THIS as it is a head ache and there has to be an easier way . If you do be prepared to talk to some one in the Phillipines. (English is poor.) Secondly forget about going to Toshiba Canada as I advised (Dave customer service) and he gave me no hope, no help and the impression you bought it so now its yours.by the way 100.00 Insurance does not cover software (no one told me this when they hard sold me on it) In fact he told me to go back to Staples and plead with the manager to see if he would help fix it up for free . That is when I told him to kiss my rosy red cheeks if you know what I mean and hung up . Please be warned... check out all options such as repair, software and what country you will be talking to for on line support (this can be very frustrating if clear English is not spoken.) So bottom line - notebook is working but missing radar wireless feature that I had before. And of course I would never buy this product again mainly because of poor communications from Toshiba Canada and their service. Ken |

What you have described is rather typical of Customer Support for many companies.
They often use cheap Indian or Far East countries, as labour costs are cheap. Dell is the same and to be honest, there's not much to chose from any of them. I did think their initial response, to reset the machine back to Factory Settings, was a bit drastic .... considering your problem wasn't major, but then many of the so called "Support Technicians" have very little training or knowledge and simply read from a flow chart on their screen. They will always look for the quickest/easiest option, rather than properly investigate the problem. I think you have learnt the hard way, but dont feel bad about it .... most of us have trodden the same route and the old sying "once bitten - twice shy" comes to mind. I was going to say ring Toshiba about your Radar program .... but then again

Thanks for the reply and support .
Yes I have learned a lesson . There would be many things I would do first like coming here befor going to the manufacture. If i had to get some thing fix i certainly would make sure the technition is Quaified. Last guy who came to cleanup my computer charged me 30.00 and ran this free program shot the bull for ten minutes and said this will take a while be just click on finish when done. Good bye http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htm Taurus |
