For those who like me don't like Windows Update switched on and prefer to have control over their downloads. https://psi.secunia.com/
Checks your programs out and tells you what wants updating and where to get it, Doesn't restrict to Microsoft products either. You can let it run in the background or use when you want (my preferred choice)

I don't see where it checks for Microsoft/Windows Updates.
Am I missing something?

Checks your drive against latest known versions and security patches issued.Dosen't download them but tells you what's needed and where to get it.

Yes I see that but it sounds like it is for installed software.
Quote:
You can determine whether or not you are running the latest WUA by visiting "http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/". If you are able to check your system for missing updates through this tool, your system should function properly with the Secunia PSI.
Why would they send you to MS to check for an MS update if they do this for you?
Quote:
The Secunia PSI is an invaluable tool for you to use when assessing the security patch state of software installed on your system. It constantly monitors your system for insecure software installations, notifies you when an insecure application is installed, and even provides you with detailed instructions for updating the application when available.
I am not saying it sounds bad, I just don't think it will substitute MS updates.

Thanks for clearing that up. I just couldn't find (written) where it searched the MS updates.
Useful indeed.
