| There are 8 ".tmp" folders like this in my System C: drive. And they hold huge amounts of memory, either 6.91MB or 9.24MB. I was just wondering if it is safe to delete them or if there is a safe way to remove them. Any help is much appreciated. |

| I posted this in software, but I didn't know if that was a right place to put it. But anyways, what is that? And why are there 8 ".tmp" folders like it on my hard drive? I want to delete them because they take up a lot of space and I want to increase space on my computer, but I don't know if it's safe. Can anybody help? |

| .tmp are temporary files. The letters are whatever Windows gave them most likely. Try cleaning them with CCleaner. Download and Install CCleaner (Crap Cleaner) Be sure to un-check the Install Yahoo! Toolbar button during installation to avoid the unnecessary installation of the Yahoo! Toolbar. Using CCleaner: Before first use, check under Options, Advanced, and ensure "Only delete files in Windows Temp folder older than 48 hours" is unchecked. A pop up box will appear advising this process will permanently delete files from your system. In the Windows Tab:
Then click the "Run Cleaner" button and it will scan and clean your system. |

| all .tmp files are deletable and are usually removed at shutdown. My best guess says it was made after the use of hijackthis.exe as a way to store temporary information This topic also should be in general software |

| Did I mention that these are not files, but folders??? Yeah, and when I open them there are files and a setup thing for Windows Media Player. All of the folders have the same files too. I just want to know what they are before I delete them. |

| Its still fine to delete them, im guessing you just installed or updated (manually or automatic) your media player then |
