    Hi everyone,

I was just wondering what OS you guys would recommend or use yourself and why?

I don’t really play games to much but I do like to play some online MMORPG games now and then.
I use my computer allot and watch movies on it.
I like to design stuff E.G. websites, graphics, code, programs.
I do allot of work on it E.G Word, Excel, Database.
I also would like to be able to set up scenarios of different computers as I help other people with their computers.

I like things to look good (sleek and smooth?) and I like it when things run well and fast.

    -Any suggestions?-

For capability - Windows. For speed and elegance - Mac. For a challenge - Linux.

Each have there only pro's and cons. But I'd choose Windows as most of the programs are coded for Windows since its dominant. You wouldn't be able to play MMORPG's on macs unless you installed Windows through bootcamp anyways. Also the overall rig is cheaper compared to Macs.

Linux? I wouldn't take it seriously, good fun though. It works if you're a basic user, but anything intermediate would require better programs which are only available on Windows or Mac.

Personally since I'm sorta a gamer, I like Windows. But I find Linux cool and pretty sleek however lacks enough program and polish. Macs are a bit overpriced but it serves well as a "Premium Class Computer" but still lacks what Windows have - Compability. Skype versions are always ahead on Windows, Microsoft Office is better on Windows and Games only run on Windows. Pretty much a no brainer if you ask me.

I would have to dis agree with Anthony on his opinion's regarding Linux, my recommendation to you Strydom is to duel boot Windows and Ubuntu, you'll eventually come to a decision. I can't say much about Mac as I've never owned one.

Thanks so much for your input guys :D I think I have made my mind up with windows at the moment but I will most likely have ubuntu as a duel boot option as i already have the disks set up for it.

And with concerns on Mac I was going to make a Mackintosh which would reduce the price considerably.

But it seems that windows still holds the monopoly and until the other OS's up their game concerning programming and compatibility they will continue to hold the monopoly over the rest of them.

Thanks again for your input :)
