HI, hope this is the right section for my PC problem sorry if its not. OK my son tried to log on to the desktop PC to do his homework but whenever he clicks on the username to log on the PC starts to log off itself. We have tried re-booting several times and switching the PC off from the main for a while but the problem still exists. I would really like to get this sorted soon as a want to avoid letting the children use the laptop as they are sometimes download things that mess things up.

You say when he tries to log on it logs itself off - do you mean it lets him log on, but then it logs ack out again, or instead of logging in it shuts down (powers off)?

Just as its logging on ot logs off before anything has loaded up, and the problem is the same with both usernames.I don't have anything important saved on the desktop but would just be able to log on for the children to be able to do homework.

It's likely a broken registry file, I had one on one of the laptops, caused by a removed program that made it bypass the XP welcome screen and demand a password, even though there wasn't one, so you press enter and it logs in, manageable, but annoying none the less.

Anyway, you'rs might be a similar problem, except it will be difficult to fix it seeing as you can't log in. We can get round that though, hopefully, most OS's have a 'backalley' into them, I just need to know what OS you're running? Then we can bypass the log in and remove the broken file - or whatever else the problem might be, and your kids can log in as usual.

If other accounts can log in fine, then delete your kids two accounts and then create them two new accounts.
