I'm after advice. I've run spybot which indicated something in my registry and so I deleted it. However I was curious and had a look through my registry and discovered loads of internet domains, some of which i've never seen before and some downright pornographic which I know i've never seen before! I'm more than curious as to how they could have gotten there. They were in at least one director labelled history with subdirectories underneath. Please advise how I can keep my registry free of this unwanted stuff and please don't say stuff like 'don't go on the internet'

Thanks

I am not too sure how to help... Maybe, they weren't exactly sites that you have visited or anything along those lines but perhaps they are sites that Microsoft block you from visiting. Or, it could be the fact that a program you may have installed could have edited your registry, be sure to only ever install trusted programs!

Thanks Clookid although I was hoping for something more positive. I feel as though i've done something wrong by even mentioning it although I know it is not something i've conciously done. Thanks for your comments anyhow

You would need to give us more info.

Where EXACTLY you deleted the domains from and what they were.

Your PC can pick up all sorts from just being online so its very easy to do.

The problem is there is a lot of money in driving traffic to porn sites etc.

Spam/spyware/virus makers target these topics to get the best return on their work, so even inocently downloading a music file or a program could have this type of subject matter hidden in the code.

Dave, I cannot remember to be honest, it was a link from spybot that I thought was suspicious and found out that it was! But clearly there are issues with security as you say. I have reasonable protection or so I thought so will have to scout round for something better. Any recommendations?
