Hello,

I just switched my website host recently - everything has transferrred just fine. Only in so doing - my computers - both of them - redirects me each time I enter my domain name in the browser - to my old server with the message "Oops!...you are here by mistake! Accessing the content by IP address is not allowed. Please type domain name instead."

each time I HAVE TO type the www. before the domain name for the browser to link to my website.

I have gone to an internet café - and this is not happening there.

Furthermor, even with my filezilla -- I HAVE TO enter the www. to be able to connect to my new server.

Has anyone had the same problem?

Can anyone elucidate?

Thanks much.

Who do you host with? Might be an idea to ask their tech support as this sounds like a hosting config issue.

steadfast netwoks - they say I have a virus or malware in my computer -- both of them!

I had gone to an internet cafe and the site is pulling up just fine....

So is it possible that BOTH my computers are hit with the same virus or malware?
And that even with filezilla I have to enter www. ?

I just received response from my former host >>

You are experiencing a DNS caching issue. Please try refreshing your local DNS cache. In Windows this is done by running the following command:

ipconfig /flushdns

However, if the old DNS info is cached at the DNS server of your ISP, you will need to wait for them to refresh their DNS. This can take up to 24-48 hours.

That makes sense doesn't it?

That makes sense. Your ISP caches pages for speed. As does your PC.

So do the command they say, clear your browser cache and restart your PC and router/modem.

If that fails you will have to wait for your ISP to do the same, which they should do every 24hrs or so.

Thanks Hybrid

I've done all the former you've suggested already -- guess I will wait for my ISP to flush the dns.

In any case, it's more reassuring that having viruses or malwares on my computers...

Have a good one!

I doubt it's a virus. Sounds like server config/dns issue to me for sure.
