Default Auction Snipers

I hope I have posted this in the correct place and this topic has not already been covered.

Can anybody advise on this facility. It seems a great idea if few other people use it, though guess it's very popular on Ebay.

I have read that it is adviseable to chose a sniper with SSL technology to protect my ID. Auctionsniper seems to be the most popular site but I can't see any mention of SSL on their website. Justsnipe seems to use it and also has a separate password which is used alongside your Ebay one.

I want to use sniping for non-Ebay auctions? How would it work if you only give your Ebay password.

Is anybody an expert on this please!?

Never seen the point of sniping software, just put in your maximum bid and away you go.
