Was just checking my email and noticed One.com A web host advertising what looks like a good offer.

From my view it looks like a good host for just a set up cost and a domain name (most have been made free) for the first year you get the following for free:

3000 MB of Space
Unlimited Transfers
Unlimited email accounts
Virus and spam filter
photo gallery
web editor
blog
FTP Login
PHP 5 - MySQL
Daily Backup
Free Support

Do you guys think it would be worth it or are there any better hosting sites around

They seem pretty big. Look around for reviews as hosting can be really hit and miss.

Maybe try one of their small packages as a trial before you go for anything major.

With hosting the major things are what spec the server is and how many other sites are on it. Bandwidth, email, space etc. is all cheap and thrown in by the bucket load by most hosts.

I couldn't go much cheaper £6 for a year including the domain doesn't seem that bad. After a year I could always change hosts.

Going to look around for reviews now however as your a site admin how large is this site and would 3000mb be enough to start up a small site

Space isnt the issue, most sizes dont take up much.

For £6 that will run a site, as soon as you start getting a bit of traffic it will probably not handle it. But you can always upgrade when you need to.

The processor and RAM of the server and how many other websites are on it (the server will be shared between many customers) are the important stuff.

We are on a VPS, so basically our own server running one main site. I forget the CPU spec but we use about a gig of RAM. We'd crash a £6 hosting plan in about 3 seconds, but then we serve around 5-10 thousand users a day.

Ok i was looking around and well thought you would need a lot of space to set a website up

With a price as low as theres the sever will have a lot of sites on in theory as low prices = more demand/more sales so that side won't be that good.

I guessed you had a bit of traffic but not as much as 5k - 10k a day.

Well i'll keep hunting around and find a better hosting site
