I've been trying out free HTML editors both online and downloadable versions and think I have settled on the CoffeeCup Free HTML Editor. It has a lot I haven't figured out yet but so far so good. |

What basic features have you worked out then as I'm looking for a good free html editor

I just use Notepad++. It allows simplicity for every language and you can directly ask it to run in a browser. As for FTP, I only use Filezilla.

CoffeeCup is very good. The free version doesn't have the Visual Editor but that's OK. Google Docs is OK for creating HTML documents, or blog entries which is what I use CoffeeCup for.

I've used an old version of that before and found it pretty easy to use. Is the new one the same?

It's pretty easy. I've found myself using Google Docs a lot more recently though.
