What hosting control panel do you prefer? Most of my accounts have been Plesk ones, but I've noticed a lot of reseller customers seem to like CPanel. I have a reseller account myself that has CPanel, and I can see that it has a lot of extra features, but in all honesty, if you are just a regular user, and aren't allowed to add any more domains or mySQL databases, then what's the point? If anyone here prefers CPanel, could you explain what it does (that a normal user would need) that makes you prefer it to Plesk? Thanks :) Just curious - I think they're both good, I just don't understand where Plesk is lacking for most situations.

I used to use Plesk as I was on a windows hosting package, but now I am on a Cpanel hosting package & I prefer Cpanel much more than Plesk. I the layout is easier to navigate through, it has a lot more features also it loads much faster.

Cpanel is very powerful, but i prefer the Plesk layout. I suppose it's a case of what you're using it for, if you're running a resellers account, I'd reccomend the use of CPanel. A normal webhosting account may not need something as advanced as these two control panels. If the website is just for blogging, a CP like eXtend may be sufficient.

It used to run on windows hosting with helm which is nicer to use than both the above in my opinion but i prefer awstats with the new Linux hosting. My System: Hybr!d

Any will do for me so long as it is helpful in managing my site. It is the familiarization factor that needs to be addressd for a new interface. In my case I have been using CPANEL by default since this the host manager of my wehost provider.

I think thats probably the key for any Hosting Control Panel. It could be the most powerful out there but if the useability is poor it's wasted. CPANEL is fairly good but the more basic eXtend CP that uses clear layout and logical routes to get to what you want is a better example. Is it possible to 'skin' CPANEL? I've never tried, perhaps it could be improved that way.

I just used Plesk for a little while in a semi dedicated server and it was a sad experience, i couldn't even configure the emails... it was probably me. I have been using cpanel since then and I really like it, not as "nice" looking as plesk in the default skin, some whm allows you to setup different skins and some look pretty even when it is not what matters most for me, easy navigation is the keyword here. crimsonc: yes, you can choose the skin, but not from the account, only from the reseller panel (maybe there is a way to leave the choice to the user, but I didn't find it yet). quinda: the basic setting for the account is done via whm, your account might not have too many options but that has to do with your hosting plan. Sandra.
