I make a few $ a day, not much at all. I recomend targeting your website at a niche market, a small percent of all users that are very interested in the topic.
Appealing towards everyone increases your competition, it's harder to get hits and there fore Click thru's.

I've just started a blog on the game cricket, thats a niche market, there are millions of world wide fans but as part of the wider western population it's quite targetted.

My blog has just had adsense added but I'm yet to get any activity from it (I will, eventually....I hope) but we will see. I'm trying ti utilize the blog software as well as possible to bring up the hits and hopefully get some readers. I just wish I was a better writer than I am, it would be far more successful

There's definitely money to be made, some guys make 20k a month but have some huge websites.

The key is having a big site with original content.

Then well placed and blended ads like this forum work.

Oh how I wish I could be one of them. You need sites that get thousands of unique hits a day, and a high Click through rate. It takes a lot of work but I know it's possible to do, I saw a man with a check for over $100,000 from google adwords!
