Have you submitted a site map using the tool that Elite Techs mentioned? If not I would submit one anyway. As apparently it all helps with google and indexing each page etc.

Nope, haven't done a site map, altho' its a good idea it isn't really essential.

Back-links and lots of them are what matters.

I do not really understand how a site map effects your status of page rank and stuff like that.

I was reading in a different webmaster forum before and I do believe that it stated the site maps were bad for your website. I do not know exactly why, but if its true then I would look into it.

Something that did happen to my friend was that he had his homepage and his contact us page both listed in Live.com and the contact us page always came up as a result before the home page. FrEaKy

A site map will not help page rank, only back links do.... it does help crawlabilty tho' which helps SERPS and indexing.
