Ok, well I play this MMORPG and it includes factions etc, and I am a leader of one, so to help things stay organised, I am keeping everyone's stats etc in an Excel document. However this poses the problem that is is hard for other faction members to view it (they need to message me in game for the info they need) So I thought, as I'm not using my website, I could use it to host this document. But I don't know anything about website coding, so I need some help.

What I want to be able to do is this:
  • Everyone has to log on with different accounts to view the document online
  • I need to be able to manage accounts (change passes for people/create new accounts)
  • There needs to be the ability for some of the users to edit the document online (without having to download anything)

I think that is everything I need, but I'll add more if I think of anything.

As for programs I can use, I can use any freeware program, or any program that has a free trial download, as long as it's not required to keep the website working. I might also be able to use Frontpage (my Dad has a copy I might be able to borrow) and possibly Dreamweaver (not sure if my Dad has a copy of this or not)

Thanks all for your help, I know I will get loads of replies with the new scoring system

Yeah, don't do the illegal Dreamweaver. It is quite obviously illegal.

Creating what you want is going to be hard if you have no previous experience. Figure on about a year of learning to create what you want to do.

You have two options:

Get a script, basically a program that someone has already written. There may even be one specifically written for what you want to do, designed for your game.

Use a web service, something like Google Docs. But that may be more difficult to control access etc.

Actually, your best option is going to be to use a Wiki. It could be perfect.

You need to install some Wiki software on your host, maybe Media Wiki.

Then set up maybe a public, open to anyone home page.

Then have a option where users can register, and after you accept them, then can view the scoreboard etc.

If you grant their user account permission, they could edit the documents as needed.

That would be a great use of a wiki.
