Default Java or .NET

Hi friends...

I'm a student and know a fair bit of C++. Now i wanna enhance my knowledge and skills in the field of programming. So very soon going for a course. Now, the 2 options in front of me are Java and .NET. And like many other people, i'm confused which one to go for.

Also made a seacrh on this topic a couple of times, but the results for not satisfactory. On one webpage, Java was leading, then on othe page .NET ruled.

So plz guys, if you got some useful info regarding this, then do let me know.

Mainly i wanna know, which one i should prefer taking into considerations the present and future market needs and of course which one of them will help me get a higher pay package...lol. coz afterall, we wanna get payed big bucks for our hard work.

I think with the strength Linux is showing now I would still go with Java. There are bridges anyway that allow interoperability.

Hi

Personally I would also go for Java. As essentially if you do need to develop for the .net framework in the future you could use C++ .net which is similar to native c++ anyway.

I hope this helps.

Many Thanks

Leo

although you can "manually port" your .NET code by hand... meaning you have to check each line and modify some of it and transfer the code to another compiler.. im not quite sure..
