Default Moving hosts

I am in the process of moving hosts. My new host says that they will transfer everything but they say that my site keeps timing out etc etc and I haven't heard from them since monday.

I am now transfering my site via ftp. My question is will my databases be intact or will I have to import them with cpanel? I really don't want to loose everything
Is this the right thing to do?

Ask the host to do a full zipped backup inc. any data bases.

Then download it to your PC via ftp.
