Hello my expert freinds,
after being a couple gambling addicted students me and my best freind want to develop a new way in which helps people stop gambling on the net. with many issues regarding gamblock we want to deveop basically an ip based kinda thing. for example
a user registers on our site we then scan his ip and network ip on our database linke dto your site then wherever he is with is laptop or any other home network computer he is blocked from gambling sites and not just sites with gamblign adds, actual gambling sites !. we dont want a software based thing like gamblock, for many reasons, the comp can be formated or the software removed by an expert, and other minor issues.
we really commited to this project and wanna help people who been in sort of unamaginable problems like us. the main problem is we are not computer programmers but managment and law students so really need expert advise on this if its actually posible or a simialr idea.
in short terms basically geting one computer (our server) monitoring and blocking anothers computers (users) web content without software (if possible) mainly using ips an network ips
I dont know much about comps sorry really hope you guys understand where im getting at
any and i mean any sort of advise would be much appreciated

LOL, that just isn't going to work is it.

A 'addict' would have to sign up in the first place which they just won't, even if they did they could get round the system in minutes.

come on guys need beter help, its a good idea, gamblock generate millions in licence fees there traffic is over a million got it from some website anyways if you really are addicted you wil sign up to help yourself .

It is a terrible idea.

It's like asking a drug addict to block their dealers number on their phone, they just wouldn't do it, even if they did they could just unblock it.

Trust me Gamblock is not popular, their site is dead, gets no visitors or subscriptions and was designed by someone living in the 80's.

cmon guys lets not cristise teh biz ideas and focus ont eh question, if to say it was good idea i know u disagree if it was, is it possible to create something liek this liek a national databse smiliar thing? some thing unuversities use to block content without software kidna thing?

to me this just sounds like a variation of child block, only limited to certain sites etc

in my uni they only allow certain sites, but these are restricted using software, if you don't use software to block sites then what can you use?

to my knowledge you have to use software to block it, i mean if you use hardware, then its the software within the hardware that will be blocking it, like the settings on a router

No easy way to do it .... but even if there was, it would be like banning one pub to an alcoholic. If he wanted a drink he would use another .... or in your case an Internet Cafe.

Expecting a gambler to police himself, is like putting the Alchoholic in charge of the Off Licence surely
