Using some of the free tools avaliable on the internet i have tested some of my pages and they get very good ratings as regards seo stuff, but a new website for a place near to me shows up on page 4 of a search for the same search as my web page whereas my webpage doesnt show up at all for the first 30 pages.......i have tested this new local website in the free seo tools and it gets a low result, so my question is.......

How can a new website get a higher search rating when it aparently has a low seo score but my older webpage with an apparently very high seo score doesnt even show up in the first 30 pages of the same search and also my webpage's title/name is included in the search phrase but this new websites title/name isnt...........very confused i am.

SEO score tools mean nothing, don't rely on them.

Pages rank on age, content and backlinks.

As I said before if your website is less than 1 year old it will perform oddly in the serps.

Build backlinks with your keywords in the anchors, have your keyword in your page titles and on the page, rinse, repeat, wait, then repeat more, then wait longer, it will come. Eventually.

I did a search for the keywords you sent me, the results seem normal.

For example you say this search returns irrelevent results.

"west of *country* hotels"

I get back pages mostly over 6 years old, with many backlinks and the keywords in title and on page.

So how do you expect a few month old site with few backlinks to compete?

Oh and as I said before about backlinks, your site has 2.

Your competition has 1000's, I have offered you the same advice time and time again.

Backlinks with relevant keyword anchor text are what you need.

You will get nowhere without them.

There are few factors might affect SERP position of a brand new website ... one of them is domain name. Possible that domain name was previously dropped ... so though it's new to you, but it's not new to search engine.

I'm not sure ... what is the duration is new to you?
