Google is virtually useless nowadays. The ONLY thing that you can count on in a google search NOW is that the first ten pages paid Google a LOT of cash. They have a good algorithm, the new owners however have sold the exploits to others.........
I believe Sergy and Larry still own Google. Also, you can buy sponsored listings, but the organic results are just that, organic. The first 10 pages are most definitely NOT paid for.

Yeah, and the video only shows a small part of the complex, and they have 12 known data centers, plus numerous other office locations. Not bad considering pretty much every product they offer is free.

I would dispute you. Google was sold a couple of years ago at over 1 billion dollars. might have been 10's of billions of dollars. The exploits are DEFINITELY there. When you do a basic google search (name or a word or two) you often get nothing that remotely resembles what you are looking for. Take googling EXE's for virus info for instance. You don't get a definition most often, you get a sight that mentions the name and then tells you if you PAY they will tell you what you are looking for. Maybe.......... at least they claim it.

For instance: I write for an internet site. Google my name and the site I write for is rarely first. Links from Jayski or even fan sites that pick my article up will be listed higher depending upon the fan site. About 6th or 7th is the obit in the paper for my grand dad who died more than 10 years ago (we share the same name and he was not a celebrity). Do you reckon that there are really THAT many people looking for the obit for my long dead grand dad, oe perhaps that the newspaper that has it archived from 10 years ago pays money to get listed first? (LOL I just checked, good old grand dad's obit is the THIRD listing from 1998...........)

In short, as a reporter who stands on his facts, i don't reply on Google. I use them to get leads, but I rarely stop there.

Dang, I wasn't quick enough to edit I guess. Anyways: http://news.softpedia.com/news/Googl...es-33269.shtml

http://www.infoworld.com/t/business/...d-its-soul-025 (evidence of "place" fixing) dang, that link leads to a dead end, but this one doesn't: http://forums.seochat.com/google-new...out-67508.html

Edit: I could find more (using google lol) but I'm too tired. One last question though: If google had not sold it's exploits, then why are companies getting rich selling customers on the idea that they can get them "up there" in the google searches? Oh and when Google went public, they were worth 27 BILLION dollars. That was in 2004 or 2005. HWat was the IPO, they gained 18% the first day. What are they worth now.

Caveat: Dave, you may be right the two founders may own a controlling interest......... but they answer to stock holders now.......
