| Hi, I would like to share the results of a split test I did lately and to know if someone did something like this and have some results. I put online two sites at the same time, I submitted both only to google I promoted one only by article promotion. I promoted the other only by giveaways. The site I promoted via article promotion in 3 months is PR3 (even when it was down for a while and now it is still messy), but it has no registered users. The site I promoted via giveaways is PR1, but it has 50 registered users and it is clear that some really read my newsletter (of course... I give a free download with every email I send out). I found the best beta tester ever via a call I did there. The other interesting fact is that I worked in SEO and content more in the second that the first one and that the domain name is better related in the second one. My conclusion: if you want to give some PR to a domain name, the best way to go is via article submission (of course the article has to be good), if you want to build a list, giveaways are much better. Did someone a split test like this? I am not sure if my results are general or not. Sandra.:) |

| PR is well know to be related to incomming links and not content.

| Yes, of course. But I was going not so much to that point but to the strategy to have a site with chances to become successful, and what to do in terms of what you want to achieve. I have another site that worked via normal linking (search engine and directory submission, link exchange, etc) and it is pr3 after 3 years. It actually went from pr4 to pr3 when we changed the front of the site from magazine style to a more stylish but static look. ![]() With this last pr3 site, I spent 2 days in promotion: one writing a nice article and one day submitting to about 20 article repositories. That article has been reproduced in several other websites and blogs now, without extra work from my part. The counterpart is... like the site is underdevelopped, when the visitors arrive there they don't give me their information. I will have to work on it I guess. Sandra.:) |
