Default Storage space and monthly file transfer?

500MB is no different than on your home PC.

1 Movie and you'll fill it up, however a normal website with a few photos and you wont get close to filling it.

As for bandwidth this site uses 10GB and we have at most 2000 users online a day.

A new website will start with none so you wont outgrow that soon, when you do just upgrade with you host and buy more space and/or bandwidth.

Also if you are streaming music or movies then say you put a 500MB film on your webspace, 10 downloads will use 5GB of bandwith.

So it really depends what you are using the hosting for.
