Default Trouble with adding shopping cart

I have a free geocities site and cannot get the paypal shopping cart code on. I copy and paste the code to my site but I end up with the whole code showing on the page instead of the shopping cart symbol

Dave will have better knowledge than me on this Lily if you bear with us until he takes a look.
By the way did you make the button first and then copy over?

Well I maybe wrong but the wording on that site appears to say that, that code will produce that cart button, then below the code looks like you can view the cart.
